The University of Michigan is an E-Verify Employer
E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows an employer, using information reported on an employee's Form I-9, to determine the eligibility of that employee to work in the United States.
The E-Verify system is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration.
Regulations that took effect on September 8, 2009, require employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that contain the Federal Acquisition Register (FAR) E-Verify clause to use the E-Verify system. The University of Michigan, as a federal contractor, will use the E-Verify system for employees working on federal contracts with the E-Verify clause and individuals being hired by the University to work on federal contracts that contain the E-Verify clause.
