Responsibilities*
The University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry is seeking a mid-career clinical psychologist with a specialization in addictions for a full time position in the Substance Abuse Section's clinical facility, the University of Michigan Addiction Treatment Services (UMATS) program This appointment may be structured as either a clinical track appointment or alternatively as a tenure stream academic track appointment, with the decision to be based upon the successful candidate's balance of clinical/administrative and research activities. In either case, the position involves administrative direction of UMATS operations, the delivery of addiction treatment services to patients in UMATS, as well as an additional component of research. The position is currently listed at the associate professor level; however, applicants at all ranks will be considered.
Candidates should have a substantial background of work in screening, evaluation, and in the delivery of evidence based treatment to patients with substance abuse and substance use disorder across a spectrum of drugs of abuse, and in the conduct of research on these issues. A record of peer-reviewed publication and early programmatic research activity that indicates promise for research funding at the national level is also desirable. Candidates must also demonstrate an ability to contribute to the Section's educational mission, including ability and interest in interacting and mentoring students and junior faculty.
The Section is home to 16 faculty and research scientists and more than 100 other clinical, research, and administrative staff (see www.psych.med.umich.edu/sub/default.asp). Its Addiction Research Center is currently the base for more than 20 projects focused on the etiology, course, treatment, and outcome of substance abuse disorders. Moreover, substance abuse research accounts for more than 40 percent of the department's total research activity. The Section has two NIH post-doctoral/post-residency research training programs, an ACGME certified Addiction Psychiatry Training program, and exceptionally strong collaborative relationships both within the Medical School and with other segments of the University community.
Required Qualifications*
Candidates must have a PhD in clinical psychology from an American Psychological Association accredited doctoral program, and current professional psychology licensure with qualifications sufficient to obtain full licensure at the doctoral level in Michigan. Although not immediately required, board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) is desirable.
Evidence of scholarly ability (publications in peer-reviewed journals) and evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.

The University of Michigan offers attractive, comprehensive benefits and a salary commensurate with rank and experience. We especially invite and encourage applications from members of ethnic and racial minority groups.
