Job Summary

The University of Michigan School of Nursing seeks individuals for clinical track faculty positions in a new educational approach to integrate education, practice and research, the Clinical Initiative on Excellence. These exciting positions require innovative thinking and actualizing a model that fosters integration of faculty from the School of Nursing with our colleagues at the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS). These positions are full-time in the School of Nursing on the clinical track faculty and fully embedded at UMHS working with students and staff in practice.

Market Title: Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor (dependant on qualifications)
Unit/Department: School of Nursing in collaboration with the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS)
Salary Range: Minimum $72,000 - dependant on professorial rank and qualifications These are full-time, 9-months appointments (normally September through May). Positions to be filled as early as January 2012.
Reports to: Associate Dean, School of Nursing, Office of Academic Affairs for core clinical education responsibilities; Division Chair for academic appointment and general faculty responsibilities and the CNO or designee at UMHS for practice effort

General Description:
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing seeks clinicians who are doctorally prepared and have demonstrated a high level of competence in advanced clinical practice to serve as clinical educators for 2012-2013. The clinical educators hired will be full-time members of the School of Nursing on the clinical track faculty and fully embedded at the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) working with students and staff in practice.

Responsibilities*

We are soliciting applications from experienced clinicians who want to blend teaching, practice and scholarship. Applicants will be considered for all market titles listed above, depending on experience and scholarly productivity. Applicants must have demonstrated expertise in the advanced clinical practice role. Diversity is highly valued and applications from members of groups underrepresented in nursing are encouraged.

Required Qualifications*

Qualifications (dependant on market title):
* Doctorate in nursing or highly related field required
* A current Michigan nursing license.
* Demonstrate high level competence in advanced clinical practice
* Demonstrate excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills
* Desire work that engages in the educational mission, with progressive successful mastery of teaching skills, and developing scholarly activities
Additional qualifications dependant on professorial rank:
* A record of scholarly attainment in the area of advanced practice nursing including publications, evidence-based practice guidelines and other forms of scholarship.
* A reputation among colleagues for outstanding achievements and recognized contributions in their field of expertise.
* An admirable record of academic, professional and community service.
