Job Summary
This RN would be part of our Central Staffing Resource Department in the Pediatric Critical Care Cluster.
This cluster services the following units:
8 West: Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
10 East: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
10 West: Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Unit (PCTU)

Responsibilities*
Provide safe nursing care to a variety of patients, ages infant to young adult.
Floating among the Pediatric Critical Care units (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Unit (PCTU), and Holden (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) is expected.
The need to function and have the knowledge to work with multiple pediatric specialties is expected. The ability to work with various central venous lines and the knowledge to administer specialized intravenous (IV) medication drips and dosages will be an expectation.
These patients often require ventilatory support and hemodynamic monitoring.
Family centered care is provided through collaboration with all members of the health care team in order to meet the complex care requirements of the highly specialized pediatric population.

Required Qualifications*
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
2 years of recent pediatric ICU experience.

Desired Qualifications*
Recent experience in Pediatric or Neonatal Critical Care.
Experience as a float RN in a pediatric ICU hospital setting.
PALS/NRP Certification.
Knowledge of the University of Michigan Health System's nursing policies and practice.
Demonstrated team player skills.
Positive communication skills.
Experience with family centered care philosophy.
Takes initiative in seeking professional growth.

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.
